As the demand for our expertise continues to grow, we now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our significantly experienced and talented Building Services Engineering Team.
Based at our offices in Leeds with over 60 staff covering a wide range of disciplines in property and construction, you will be part of our Building Services team that are delivering innovative solutions for our clients.
Our client list includes financial services, education, healthcare, residential, commercial, retail, leisure and many more. As the Senior Electrical Design Engineer at Ridge, you will be exposed to multiple sectors and many cultures. Building services engineers at Ridge advise, design, monitor and survey the services that are needed to allow the building to do what it's designed to. These services include, resilience, lighting, power, back-up power generators, statutory compliance, heating, safety and security.
Role and Responsibilities
1. Working as part of a design team delivering design from feasibility to completion and handover
2. Liaising closely with other professionals, including, clients, structural engineers, architects, surveyors, and contractors of in-house and external project teams
3. Attending a range of project group and technical meetings
4. Ensuring that the design and maintenance of building systems meets legislative and health and safety requirements
5. Advising clients and architects on energy use and conservation in a range of buildings and sites, aiming to minimise the environmental impact and reduce the carbon footprint
6. Designing site-specific equipment as required
7. Technical reviews of contractor's proposals and on-site Inspections of the installation of building systems and maintenance and operating procedures
8. Using specialist computer-aided design (CAD) and BIM (Revit), Trimble (Amtech), Revit / Dialux software and other resources to design the systems required for the project
Experience and Skills Required
9. Accredited Building Services degree or higher educational qualification and significant experience in a similar role
10. Ideally chartered or working towards chartered engineer status with a suitable institution
11. You will need to be an excellent communicator who can articulate complicated issues between our clients and our highly skilled project teams
12. Experience with IES modelling and Revit would be highly advantageous
