Overview
We are looking for a permanent Plumber to join our Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account at HMP Whatton. This on‑site role involves both planned and reactive maintenance within the prison, working safely, efficiently and in compliance with statutory and contract standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure health and safety standards are met across the contract.
* Carry out routine and non‑routine maintenance and statutory works on time.
* Identify and repair faulted or life‑expired equipment.
* Perform water sampling, risk assessments and mains water supply repairs.
* Monitor the BMS system and minimise wastage while continually improving processes.
* Support local and business zero‑carbon programmes where appropriate.
* Work at height and in all weather conditions as required.
* Respond to reasonable requests from your line manager.
Schedule & Allowances
Standard hours: 39 hours per week across 7 days, with a weekend rota covering 1 in 3 weekends. Weekend work on a rota basis qualifies for a 15% allowance of basic salary.
Qualifications & Experience
* Full UK driving licence and personal vehicle access.
* Appropriate trade qualification (Level 3 preferred, Level 2 considered).
* NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating (or Level 2). Experience in a commercial environment is desirable.
* Legionella Control (L8) experience is not essential but appreciated.
* Prison Security Clearance required (Amey will support you through the process).
