We are recruiting a Statistician to develop and perform statistical analysis plans, analyse data and communicate results to healthcare clients.

About the Role
Our Statistics team provide statistical and analytical expertise across Costello Medical, devising statistical analysis plans and performing data analysis within R, Excel, STAN and BUGS software. They are also responsible for communicating the methodologies and results in both written and oral formats to drug and device manufacturers, doctors and reimbursement agencies such as NICE in the UK. The statistical analyses vary across patient‑level clinical trial data, observational study data and published aggregate data. Our work involves techniques such as basic statistical analysis of individual patient data, regression, survival analysis and Bayesian network meta‑analysis using both standard and newer methods.
You will work in project teams alongside colleagues from all specialities to ensure that statistics projects are completed to a high standard, on time, and in line with client expectations. You will receive training on the technical aspects of the role, as well as project management and effective client communication. Delivering project work requires close collaboration with clients and, following a successful induction period, you will increasingly take part in client calls and face‑to‑face meetings with external stakeholders. Some client meetings and congresses take place outside the UK, presenting opportunities for overseas travel.

Requirements
Essential Requirements
* An undergraduate degree in a scientific or mathematical discipline (minimum 2.1), with a focus on statistics and data analysis.
* Proficiency in the R programming language and willingness to rapidly develop programming skills.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain complex techniques and results to non‑expert audiences.
* Ability to research, test and recommend new software or techniques suited to specific projects.
* Strong attention to detail, commitment to high quality deliverables and outstanding customer service, even under competing demands.
* Excellent organisational and time‑management skills, flexible to shifting deadlines.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within project teams.
* Excellent written English, assessed during selection.
Desired Requirements
* A master’s or PhD in a scientific or mathematical discipline.
* Knowledge of SAS, Stata, SQL or Python.
* Strong understanding of medical data, clinical processes or clinical trials.
