The Teaching Assistant will support the Lead Tutor in delivering personalised learning and care for a 9-year-old student with complex needs. The role involves assisting with learning activities, supporting communication and engagement, and helping to create a calm, structured, and positive learning environment.
The Teaching Assistant will play a key role in helping the student access learning, develop independence, and regulate emotions throughout the morning learning session.
Key Responsibilities
Student Support

Provide 1:1 support to the student during learning sessions.

Assist the tutor in delivering individualised learning activities tailored to the student's needs and abilities.

Support the student with communication, engagement, and attention during tasks.
*
Encourage independence, confidence, and participation in learning activities.
*
Use strategies to support emotional regulation and behaviour where required.
Learning Assistance
*
Help prepare and organise learning materials and resources.
*
Support with literacy, numeracy, and sensory-based learning activities as directed by the tutor.
*
Adapt activities when necessary to ensure accessibility for the student.
*
Reinforce instructions and support the student in completing tasks.
Wellbeing and Care
*
Support the student's emotional wellbeing and safety throughout the session.
*
Help maintain a structured and predictable routine.
*
Provide reassurance and calm support during moments of dysregulation.
Communication and Collaboration
*
Work closely with the Lead Tutor to implement learning plans and strategies.
*
Provide feedback on the student’s engagement and progress.
*
Maintain professional communication with the team
