Location: Faringdon, Oxfordshire
Hours: Permanent, full-time – 36.75 hours per week, Days and Waking Nights
Pay: £20.20 per hour for Team Leader administrative duties; £17.17 per hour for care shifts
Start Date: ASAP (subject to checks)
Driving: Own car required to reach workplace. Use of own vehicle for training/supervision (virtual options available for supervision). Possible future need to drive Client’s automatic WAV.

Job Summary
We’re looking for a proactive Care Team Leader/Support Worker to support a vibrant 25‑year‑old man with physical and developmental needs.
Our client thrives in an environment full of activity and engagement. He communicates by a variety of movements and facial expressions. He experiences epileptic seizures which vary greatly and require constant monitoring. He is wheelchair dependent, living in a fully adapted home with his family, and requires 2:1 support for all his personal and daily care needs (he cannot be left unattended). This is a unique opportunity to be part of a close‑knit team that works collaboratively to enhance his quality of life through meaningful interaction, therapeutic activities, and structured routines.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
As Care Team Leader
* Lead and support a team of Support Workers (including supervising staff)
* Plan rotas, oversee absence and annual leave
* Update care plans, risk assessments and maintain accurate care records
* Monitor staff competence and training
* Liaise with the family, Case Manager and therapy team
* Help organise appointments, equipment maintenance and assist our client’s family with any administrative tasks relating to our client.
As Support Worker
* Support with all personal care, preparing meals and drinks, moving and handling and medication, whilst ensuring our client’s safety and well‑being
* Implement therapy programmes (physiotherapy, OT, SLT, hydrotherapy)
* Help plan engaging, purposeful daily activities
* 36.75 hours per week – Care shifts (24.5 hours per week) and Team Leader admin duties (12.25 hours per week) (please note the administrative hours will be reviewed where this is a new position)
* Mix of day shifts (7:45am–8pm) and waking nights (7:45pm–8am)
* Hours discussed at interview

About You
* Confident leader with strong organisational and communication skills
* Experience in caring for children/young people with severe disabilities (NVQ level 3 or equivalent)
* Must be able to work with specialist equipment (training will be provided). A Handling Management Plan is available and is designed to reduce the risk of handling injuries, but you may be required to bend, kneel, squat, push or pull.
* Experience of formulating appropriate care plans and risk assessments for clients.
* Ability to work collaboratively with the Case Manager, maintaining regular and effective communication to ensure cohesive client support.
* Able to maintain effective working relationships, including the utilisation of the appropriate person management skills required to lead, train and support a team of support workers.
* Able to demonstrate a good understanding of the importance of maintaining confidentiality and to respect our client and their family's need for privacy.
* A strong communicator with good written skills
* Compassionate, proactive and able to work collaboratively in a home environment
* Creative and positive
* Reliable, empathetic and professional
* Flexible approach and able to work additional hours when required
* Good written communication and IT skills
* Water confident – to assist with hydrotherapy
* Comfortable to be around pets – the family have a dog (does not live in the client’s area but occasionally visits)
* Able to get to the client’s home which is not on a public transport route.
* Knowledge and experience of working with people with an acquired brain injury
* Experience of carrying out therapy programmes, such as hydrotherapy.
* Experience of carrying out physiotherapy and/or multi-sensory programmes.
* Experience of using switches and other specialist IT technology.
* Full driving license (endorsements to be disclosed) and able to drive the client’s adapted vehicle (possible future need).
