Description

We’re recruiting a Senior Marketing Manager to lead marketing across 17 practice areas and six UK offices. You’ll work closely with Practice Heads and BD to deliver integrated campaigns, lead generation, thought leadership and M&A integration activity that drives measurable commercial growth. You’ll manage a lean but highly experienced marketing team and external agencies, own budgets and marketing systems, and be comfortable advising senior partners.

Reporting lines

Reports to: Head of Marketing

Direct reports: Creative Brand Manager and Marketing Co-ordinator/Officer(s)

Matrix relationships: BD Leads, Practice Group Heads (17 practice areas), C-suite/Executive team, HR, Recruitment, Compliance and external agency partners

Location & travel

Base: Hybrid — primary office (choose from one of Flint Bishop’s offices in the Midlands or Yorkshire, with regular travel between offices (approx. 1–2 days/month per office) and occasional UK travel for events and client meetings. Some out-of-hours work required for deadlines/events.

Role summary

Lead commercial and private client marketing for Flint Bishop across 17 practice areas and six offices — delivering go-to-market strategies, BD enablement, client engagement, acquisition integration and measurable revenue growth.


Key Responsibilities

* Develop and lead integrated go-to-market strategies for named practice areas aligned to firm strategy and revenue targets.
* Act as senior marketing counsel to Practice Group Heads — translate practice strategy into marketing plans, campaigns and proposition development.
* Plan and run cross-channel campaigns (email, web, social, events, PR, paid where relevant) to generate leads, nurture relationships and support lateral/hire integration.
* Use data and insight to prioritise campaigns by ROI and pipeline contribution.
* Build and execute thought leadership calendars and media programmes for senior lawyers; secure speaking slots, by-lines and PR coverage.
* Oversee client events, webinars, roundtables and client relationship programmes for key sectors/practices.
* Create pitch/proposal templates, capability decks, credentials, tender responses and bid support for complex pitches; coach fee-earners in bid readiness.
* Work with BD to identify cross-sell / up-sell opportunities across the 17 practice areas.
* Coordinate marketing across six offices to ensure regional consistency and local opportunity capture; align local activity with central strategy.
* Support assigned offices on local business development initiatives and community relationships.
* Act as marketing lead on M&A diligence and integration for acquisitions: branding, comms, cross-sell plans, client assurance communications, web/profile integration and lateral partner onboarding.
* Deliver go-to-market plans for newly acquired teams to accelerate revenue capture post-deal.
* Own the marketing budget for assigned practices and initiatives; allocate spend against ROI criteria and report to Head of Marketing.
* Oversee CRM, marketing automation, website practice pages, CMS, content calendar and reporting dashboards; drive improvements in marketing tech use and data quality.
* Team leadership & agency management
* Line-manage Marketing team members and external agencies; set OKRs, run performance reviews and upskill the team on commercial marketing best practice.
* Select and manage external suppliers (PR, digital, events) and ensure value delivery.
* Ensure all comms comply with regulatory/legal advertising rules and the firm’s brand guidelines.
* Approve client communications, thought leadership and public materials where required.


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential:

* Extensive marketing experience in professional services (preferably law) with demonstrable leadership of multi-practice marketing.
* Strong track record in planning and executing integrated campaigns that contributed to measurable pipeline or revenue.
* Experience supporting M&A / lateral partner integrations or fast post-deal go-to-market activity.
* Excellent stakeholder management — experience advising senior partners and C-suite.
* Solid commercial acumen, ability to link marketing activity to fee-earner KPIs and ROI.
* Proficiency with CRM/MA tools (e.g., Salesforce, Dynamics, HubSpot), CMS (e.g., WordPress/Drupal) and reporting tools (Power BI/Tableau/Excel).
* People management experience: coaching, target setting and performance management.
* Exceptional written and verbal communication; proofing and editorial oversight.

Desirable:

* Sector knowledge in one or more of Flint Bishop’s practice areas (corporate, employment, real estate, disputes, private client, etc.).
* Agency-side exposure or experience managing PR and digital agencies.
* Qualifications in marketing (CIM, IDM) or equivalent.

Behavioural competencies:

* Commercial mindset, proactive problem-solver, creative, collaborative, resilient under pressure, excellent planner.

Typical duties day-to-day (example)

* Weekly meetings with Practice Heads and BD Leads across the 17 practices.
* Monthly campaign planning and performance reviews; reallocation of budget for highest ROI activities.
* Oversee production of thought leadership — edit/approve outputs and sign off PR.
* Lead integration marketing for any acquisition / lateral hire activity.
* 1:1s and development sessions with direct reports.

KPIs & success measures (first 12 months)

* Contribution to fee pipeline attributable to marketing (target % to be agreed).
* Number of qualified leads / client meetings generated per quarter from campaigns.
* Successful launch & integration of up to X acquired teams (time to first cross-sell: e.g., 3 months).
* Improvement in CRM data hygiene and automated nurture journeys implemented.
* Increase in PR/sector visibility: target press placements, speaking slots, or sector rankings uplift.
* Team performance & engagement metrics (retention / development goals).
