Gender Clinical Nurse Lead

The Gender Clinical Lead Nurse will hold clinical leadership and management responsibilities, supported by the Gender Specialist Lead Nurse and Clinical Director. Professional leadership is provided by the Chief Nursing Officer. The role will have line management responsibility for all core nursing roles within GIC, ensuring appropriate clinical supervision. The postholder will also be responsible for the nursing pathway development, working in tandem with the Clinical Director and the Gender Specialist Nurse Lead.This role gives a fantastic opportunity to develop a nursing workforce within the service to enhance patient care and quality.
Main duties of the job
Undertake generic multi-disciplinary assessments of the health and wellbeing.o Manage a caseload of patients whilst working as part of amultidisciplinary team (defined or virtual), delivering individualised andpersonalised direct patient care.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registration as a Nurse with the NMC
* Degree-level education or equivalent
* Evidence of master's degree or equivalent Post Graduate Clinical or Management experience in e.g. CYP, IAPT, and other psychological and psychotherapeutic modalities
* Independent nurse prescriber qualification
Experience
* Substantial clinical experience in a relevant work setting, including experience with challenging patient populations requiring skilled and complex assessments and interventions.
* Experience working within a multidisciplinary team environment.
* Experience working within a multi-professional network and awareness of issues for such networks and teams.
* Capacity to work sensitively and appropriately within a client and professional group with diverse gender identity and sexuality and of ethnically diverse backgrounds.
* Some experience working with people who experience gender dysphoria and gender incongruence.
* Experience of working with QI methodology
Skills
* A highly developed ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to convey highly complex and clinically sensitive information to family members of all ages, students, and a wide range of professional people within and outside the NHS.
* The ability to effectively manage a large caseload
* An awareness of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice
* Confident use of Microsoft Word and Excel
* An awareness of current issues in service delivery within Gender services and other settings
* Strong leadership, interpersonal skills, and authority, able to foster and manage relationships across team and service boundaries.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Advanced physical health assessment skills
Knowledge
* A comprehensive understanding of the changing NHS and Social Care environment and the challenges it faces.
* Knowledge and understanding of trans- specific issues.
* Ability to look beyond structures, ways of working, boundaries and organizations to produce more effective and innovative service delivery and partnership.
* Knowledge of Adult and child safeguarding procedures and processes
* Knowledge and understanding of the NMC Code of Conduct and Scope of Professional Practice
