Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to support and enhance the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care within our specialist Haematology service at UHD. This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse with relevant experience to develop their clinical expertise, leadership skills, and make a real impact on patients living with complex haematological conditions.
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Haematology, you will act as a key member of the multidisciplinary team, providing expert clinical advice, care coordination, and psychological support to patients across inpatient and outpatient settings. This advert is for a 9 month fixed term or secondment opportunity and will be cross site working and will have shifts at both Bournemouth and Poole when needed.
You’ll work closely with haematology consultants, CNSs, advanced nurse practitioners, pharmacy, and allied health professionals to deliver safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care.
Responsibilities
* Delivering specialist nursing care to patients with malignant and non-malignant haematological disorders
* Supporting patients through the diagnostic pathway, treatment regimens, and survivorship or palliative phases
* Leading on patient education, symptom management, and holistic needs assessments
* Acting as a clinical resource and advocate for patients, families, and staff
* Contributing to service improvement, audit, and the development of care pathways
* Supporting junior staff, student nurses, and the ongoing development of the nursing team
* Deliver nurse-led clinics and telephone follow-up where appropriate
* Monitor treatment-related toxicities and escalate as required
* Support patients and families with complex information, symptom management, and psychosocial needs
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of haematological conditions, treatment protocols, and clinical trials
* Ensure safe and effective discharge planning in collaboration with other teams
You’ll work closely with haematology consultants, advanced nurse practitioners, pharmacy, and allied health professionals to deliver safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care.

Please note if the role or service is relocated as part of a planned move, employees will not be eligible for excess mileage reimbursement. Travel from the postholder's home to the new work base will be considered a normal commute.
