Position Summary
The Financial Accountant will work closely with the Director, UK Finance and other senior members of the UK Finance team to ensure all monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and regulatory reporting deliverables are met for AGUK, AGE and other UK companies. The London-based finance team works closely with a larger NY-based finance team. The Financial Accountant is a critical role that will assist the team in producing and maintaining high quality financial information.
Position Description
* Support in the delivery of accurate, timely and high-quality financial reporting on both a statutory basis (UK GAAP & French GAAP) and management accounting basis
* Posting of all journal entries relating to premiums, claims and investments
* Posting journal entries relating to expense accounting
* Support the analysis of quarterly financial results, including assisting in the preparation of management information and commentary for the CFO and the Audit Committees and Boards of both AGUK and AGE
* Support the preparation of the UK GAAP and French GAAP financial statements, assisting with the delivery and resolution of requests from the external auditors
* Effective execution of internal controls for the quarterly financial reporting close procedures
* Assist in the delivery of Solvency II reporting, including preparation of the Solvency II balance sheet and own funds quantitative reporting templates ("QRTs") and coordination with the NY-based team to complete the other required QRTs
* Assist in the maintenance and development of the finance function internal control framework
* Support in the preparation of accounting policy papers, including analysis to support the adoption of new regulatory requirements and accounting standards
* Support other key projects and initiatives via the preparation of ad-hoc information and analysis and related systems development and testing
Candidate Background
* 1-to-3-year post-qualification experience in insurance accounting or insurance audit
* Motivated, ambitious, and driven to grow within role
* Takes ownership of work
* A team player, able to work collaboratively with colleagues from and capable of delivering to tight deadlines
* Excellent analytical review skill
* Effective communicator
* Ability to multi-task
* Working knowledge of PeopleSoft desirable
* Advanced Excel skills
* Good knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS
* Working knowledge of US GAAP will be beneficial but is not essential
