As part of the Power and Energy Procurement Platform Team you will be working within a Defence environment at the Caterpillar Shrewsbury Facility in the UK. The role will require the management of supply network procurement related activities to support the facility to deliver its CSD targets. The role is to deliver a lean, responsive, and resilient material and services flow for the facility from source to dock, the candidate will need to demonstrate leadership in recognising the potential for cost and inventory reductions, quality improvements, management of parts obsolesce to meet customer needs, knowledge of working in the Defence Industry (preferred, but not essential) and its legal requirements to continually identify and resolve parts risks to the customer. Job Related Statistics: Suppliers Managed: 60 Number of Active parts numbers: 2000 Schedule Compliance: >95% Quality PPM: Job Responsibilities and Duties: Reporting directly to the Facility Supply Manager, you will be accountable to manage a variety of commodity portfolios, liaising with Category purchasing and the facility to create a competitive advantage for our customers. Working in a low volume Defence and Commercial environment continue to look for unique opportunities of improvement to allow the life expediency of our customer products to be fulfilled Accountable for operating and monitoring the Power and Energy Procurement functions as designed and required within the Defence & Commercial environments, to meet the defined response time, cost, quality, and lean targets, enabling optimal and efficient facility operations, collaborating with business partners and suppliers, and resolving facility specific supplier issues. Manage the suppliers in QCLDM methods to ensure continuous improvements are identified and delivered. Carryout supplier audits and visits to ensure that the supplier is meeting the demands of the facility and resolving all concern areas. Provide expertise in the launching and management of purchase orders for a facility in the terms of parts related to prototypes and production, ensuring contractual flow down terms are met. Lead continuous improvement initiatives and new product introduction activities with the purchasing site team. Drive down the total cost of ownership, continually search out new sourcing opportunities to achieve cost reduction, cost avoidance and cost containment objectives. Communicate and interact with all disciplines within the business including sales, finance, engineering, production, quality and supply chain to ensure understanding of the strategies, goals and targets and attain a degree of consistency and effectiveness in the sourcing activity. What You Have: Standard Operating Procedures: Job-related experience within a Purchasing environment. Proven experience of managing low volume, complex, small spend supplier base. Analytical Thinking: Show evidence of analytical, problem solving and project leadership skills Degree Requirement A professional qualification in Purchasing (CIPS) is preferred or job-related experience. Technical requirements: Knowledge of QAD EE preferred Knowledge of Quality, Lean manufacturing, and an understanding of lean principles.
