Offer description

Write a short description of your company, a boilerplate of the business, service or product that you offer. Include your business idea and the target audience. This text is primarily supposed to be descriptive, not selling.

The Opportunity

Norwich is a city with a unique economic profile, serving as a major UK hub for the insurance and financial services industries, as well as a pioneer in sustainable agritech and green energy. We are seeking an intellectually rigorous Economics Teacher to join an Ofsted-rated 'Outstanding' secondary academy. In this role, you will guide students through the complexities of global markets, fiscal policy, and behavioural economics, utilizing the city's status as a regional financial capital to bring the curriculum to life.

-----------------------------------

The Department & Academic Standard

* You will join a prestigious Social Sciences faculty where Economics is a premier subject, attracting high-attaining students with aspirations for careers in finance, international development, and public policy.

* The department fosters a "university-seminar" atmosphere, encouraging students to engage in high-level debate regarding inflation, market failures, and the global distribution of wealth.

* As an "Outstanding" setting, we prioritize a research-led approach to teaching, employing sophisticated data analysis and economic modelling to ensure students master both micro and macro-economic theories.

* We maintain active links with the University of East Anglia (UEA) and local financial leaders, providing students with access to guest lectures and professional mentoring.

-----------------------------------

Core Responsibilities

1. Exemplary Instruction: Delivering high-challenge Economics lessons across Key Stage 4 (GCSE) and Key Stage 5 (A-Level), ensuring students can articulate complex theories with precision.

2. Micro-Economic Mastery: Teaching the mechanics of the price engine, including supply and demand, elasticity, and the impact of government intervention in failing markets.

3. Macro-Economic Insight: Guiding students through national and global economic indicators, including GDP growth, unemployment, and the intricacies of monetary and fiscal policy.

4. Data Interpretation: Training students to analyse and evaluate complex datasets, preparing them for the rigorous quantitative requirements of the A-Level and undergraduate study.

5. Global Contextualization: Integrating contemporary case studies—such as the economics of climate change, trade agreements, and emerging market shifts—into the daily curriculum.

-----------------------------------

The Successful Candidate We are looking for a subject authority who can translate abstract economic laws into fascinating real-world insights. Requirements include:

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong honours degree in Economics or a related discipline (e.g., Finance, PPE).

* Proven Track Record: Evidence of delivering exceptional learning outcomes and a deep understanding of the AQA or Edexcel Economics specifications.

* Analytical Rigor: The ability to support students in mastering the mathematical and evaluative components of the exam, particularly high-mark essay construction.

* Inspirational Presence: A teacher who can foster a classroom culture of critical inquiry, encouraging students to challenge assumptions and think like professional economists.

-----------------------------------

Why Join Us?

* The chance to work in an "Outstanding" environment where student behaviour is exemplary and your subject is held in high academic regard.

* Unrivalled professional development pathways, including opportunities for middle leadership and collaboration with elite practitioners across Norfolk.

* The opportunity to work in Norwich—a historic, vibrant city offering a high quality of life, affordable living, and proximity to the beautiful Norfolk Broads and coastline.

* A prestigious professional community that values intellectual ambition, innovation, and the holistic development of every student.
