Senior Medicine Management Technician

We are seeking registered pharmacy technicians with a recognised checking accuracy qualification to join our team of patient-facing Medicines Management Technicians.
You will collaborate with clinical pharmacists and other multidisciplinary team members to optimise the use of medicines across surgical and medical areas, supporting specialist wards at NUH. Your work will contribute to patient safety, experience, satisfaction, and operational efficiency within the Trust.

Main duties of the job
To enhance and support patient care quality on admission and discharge within various clinical areas at NUH through a professional medicines management service. Responsibilities include assessing and re-using patient medications where appropriate, taking accurate drug histories, providing patient counselling, preparing discharge prescriptions timely, and supporting ward storage and security issues.
The role involves supporting dispensary operations when needed and participating in weekend duties. The shift pattern includes:
* Weekend, bank holiday, and late duty work as required. Currently, weekends involve 2 half-day shifts every 4/5 weeks at the City campus or 1 full day shift every 4 weeks at the QMC campus.
* Participation in flexible shifts to align with NUH pharmacy opening hours.

Person Specification
Registered
* General Pharmaceutical Council registered Pharmacy Technician
* Accredited Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (or evidence of in-house validation)
* Experience with Medicine Management Assessments or Validations (accredited or in-house training)
Qualifications
* BTEC/NVQ Level 3 in pharmaceutical services
Experience
* Extensive knowledge of medicine management procedures and policies
* Ability to work independently within defined limits
* Computer literacy
* Ability to work under pressure to meet objectives
* Experience with hospital pharmacy admission/discharge processes, staff management, stock control systems, and coordination
Communication
* Effective communication with patients, staff, and colleagues
