Job title: Mechanical Engineering Instructor
Job Description: Full‑time role, 37.5 hours a week (Monday – Friday). You will deliver high‑quality training in Mechanical Craft and Fabrication, supporting trainees in developing core engineering competencies.
Responsibilities
- Introducing and developing practical hand skills, including fitting and filing
- Teaching the interpretation and understanding of basic technical drawings
- Providing instruction on the safe use of workshop equipment
- Promoting and embedding strong workshop Health & Safety practices
- Supporting trainees’ progress through coaching, mentoring, and constructive feedback
Essential Skills / Experience
- A strong engineering background (mechanical or fabrication experience preferred) certified to a minimum of Level3 or above
- Practical workshop experience and confidence using hand tools and machinery
- Proficient in the use of IT (hardware/software)
- Willingness to learn and continuously develop as a trainer (full training provided)
- Strong communication skills and a passion for developing others
Desirable Skills / Experience
- Level3 teaching qualification / DCTS Defence Train The Trainer Course or equivalent (successful completion)
- Previous instructional experience in a military or civilian engineering environment (ideally within last5years)
Security Clearance
Eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.
Salary and Benefits

Employment Terms
Term‑time basis: 45 weeks per year, with non‑working weeks taken 2 weeks at Christmas and Easter and 3 weeks in August. Salary is pro‑rated and includes contractual annual leave entitlement and bank holidays.
