Overview
Consultant Renal Transplant Surgeon at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth. The hospital has a reputation for innovation and excellence, and has recently been rated “GOOD” overall by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Responsibilities
* The post holder will primarily be responsible for the in-patient and out-patient care of patients undergoing renal transplant surgery, and dialysis-related surgery, including vascular access and live donor surgery, in both elective and emergency settings.
* Clinics are primarily based at the Queen Alexandra Hospital site. All surgery is currently performed on the QAH site.
* The role includes administering general anaesthesia and local anaesthesia lists and providing on-call cover for renal transplantation, dialysis-related problems, and renal surgical emergencies.
On-call and Working Pattern
* The on-call service operates with a Surgeon of the Week (SOW) covering from Friday midday for 7 days, including the weekend.
* Weekday nights are covered by other team members. During this period, there are no elective commitments, with fixed commitments during the week of acute transplant follow-up clinics on Monday and Thursday mornings.
