An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Mountain Ash Comprehensive School as Site Manager. We are seeking to appoint a proactive, reliable and values-driven professional who will take pride in leading the day-to-day management of our school site and ensuring a safe, secure and welcoming environment for all.
We are looking for a candidate who:
1. Is an effective and organised leader with the skills and experience to manage the school site and lead the caretaking team with clarity, professionalism and high expectations.
2. Has a strong commitment to health & safety, compliance and safeguarding, ensuring that the school premises are safe, secure and fully fit for purpose at all times.
3. Can plan, prioritise and oversee both reactive and planned maintenance, working effectively with contractors and external agencies to maintain high standards across the site.
4. Is calm, decisive and solutions-focused, able to respond effectively to emergencies and operational challenges as they arise.
5. Builds positive, respectful and professional relationships with staff, pupils, contractors and visitors, modelling the school’s values in daily practice.
6. Demonstrates excellent organisational and communication skills, ensuring clear procedures for site security, opening and closing, and out-of-hours use.
7. Is flexible and committed, understanding the varied operational demands of a busy secondary school, including exams, events and lettings.
8. Is committed to their own professional development and to working collaboratively with senior leaders to continuously improve site provision.
About the School
Mountain Ash Comprehensive School is a growing and improving 11–16 mixed comprehensive school (from September 2026), situated on an extensive green-field site on the outskirts of Mountain Ash in the Cynon Valley.

As the school continues its journey of improvement, the Site Manager will play a vital role in supporting high-quality teaching and learning by ensuring that our buildings, grounds and facilities provide a safe, secure and positive environment for everyone who uses them.
The Role
The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for the safety, security, maintenance and operational management of the school site, leading the site team and working closely with the Business and Estates Manager and Headteacher. The role is central to the smooth running of the school day and out-of-hours provision, including exams, lettings and events.
There is a strong emphasis on professionalism, teamwork and shared responsibility for maintaining a site that reflects the school’s high expectations and commitment to its community.
