Our client based in Frankley, Birmingham, is searching for a Paint Shop Operative to join their team on a 37-hour working week, 07:00-16:45, Monday – Thursday. Summary of position: This role involves the preparation and painting of buoyancy modules manufactured from syntactic foams and will play a key role in the development of a new section of the business. The high level of finish required is similar to that in the automotive industry. Primary Responsibilities / Key Accountabilities: Prepare materials for spraying Mask and protect parts not to be painted or coated. Fill cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface. De-nibbing and fine sanding – a time consuming yet crucial step as part of our 4-stage paint process. Mix paints according to specifications Select and mix coating liquid to produce desired colour. Paint surface using sprayer or brush as appropriate. Inspect painted units for quality of workmanship, noting any runs, sags and unpainted areas. Maintain tools and keep equipment clean and in proper state of repair. Maintain and wear all safety and health PPE, including respirator, as per manufacturer recommendations. Keep work area clean and tidy Comply with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials. Report any deviations to management. Taking pride in your work. Experience: At least 2 years' experience in a similar paint spraying role. Desirable Personal Specification, Experience and Education: Experience: Within an Automotive environment. Qualifications & Training: GCSEs in English and Maths Grade C (5) or above. Competencies: Organised, methodical approach. Excellent time management skills. Able to work within a team. Able to prioritise tasks to business/customer demands. Self-starter but also able to take instruction.
