The Council manages an established property investment and operational portfolio, mainly consisting of industrial, office, and retail assets, valued at approximately £300 million, generating an annual rental income of over £19 million. Rental income plays a vital role in the financial sustainability of the Council, significantly exceeding income from Council Tax.
Recognizing the importance of Property and Assets within the Council, we are seeking to recruit a Building Services and Compliance Manager within the Operational Portfolio Team. This is a new, permanent position within a team of dedicated property professionals.
The post holder must be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities include ensuring that the Operational Portfolio and other properties, where appropriate, have:
1. All necessary compliance certificates for M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) elements
2. Audits of fixed assets are undertaken and reviewed
3. Advice on M&E works requirements, including developing small schedules of works where necessary
4. Leading BDBC’s decarbonisation programme for property services
Developing and maintaining good working relationships with consultants, internal and external stakeholders, and colleagues within Property and Borough Developments is essential for success in this role.
