Assistant Leisure Operations Manager Permanent Grade C - £35,412 - £44,075 pro rata Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review Working 20 hours per week We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Assistant Leisure Operations Manager to support the day-to-day management, development, and promotion of our Sport & Leisure facilities at Handsworth Wellbeing Centre. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality leisure services to the community. What you’ll do Oversee daily operations of leisure facilities, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction. Manage staff recruitment, training, performance, and welfare. Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation and internal policies. Maximise income generation and work within approved budgets. Promote services through marketing campaigns and maintain high standards of public relations. Uphold Birmingham City Council’s values and policies, including safeguarding and equality. What you’ll need Previous experience in leisure centre management (wet and/or dry facilities). Staff supervision and HR policy implementation. Financial procedures and budget management. Health & safety knowledge including risk assessments. Community-focused service delivery. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. IT proficiency and analytical thinking. Leadership and team-building capabilities.
