Part-time Personal Assistant and Waking Nights Relief Cover required in East Carleton

24 hours per week and relief waking nights (by negotiation). £13.50 per hour, £121.50 per Waking Night. Job reference: 5195.

Job description: Although this job description is correct at present, it may change from time to time after negotiation with the post holder. Must have the right to work in the UK to apply for this role, sponsorship not available.


Job purpose

The successful candidate will be working as part of a small friendly team. The overall purpose of the job is to provide high quality support and care to a gentleman in his family home; enabling him to retain a level of independence and to support his wellbeing, rights and choices.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

* To maintain accurate records.
* To help keep client safe, including seizure management.
* To assist with mobility and transfers when necessary.
* To assist with personal care.
* Meal preparation and ensuring diet, nutrition and fluid needs are met.
* Medication support.
* To give support in order to access therapeutic, social and leisure activities.
* To give emotional support.
* To maintain client’s privacy and confidentiality.
* To demonstrate awareness/understanding of equal opportunities and behavioral, physical, social and welfare needs.
* To ensure that reasonable care is taken for the health, safety and welfare of yourself and others and to comply with the policies and procedures relating to health and safety within the home.
* To carry out any other duties which fall within the broad spirit, scope and purpose of this job description.
* This job description reflects the major tasks to be carried out by the post holder and identifies a level of responsibility at which they will be required to work. In the interest of effective working the major tasks may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changing needs and circumstances, such reviews and any consequential changes will be carried out in consultation with the post holder.


Personal Specification


ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

* This post will require satisfactory clearance of a DBS check.
* Knowledge of health, safety and hygiene standards.
* Good level of interpersonal skills.
* Ability to motivate, through previous work or life experience.
* Ability to work to a daily routine with a flexible approach.
* Able to use initiative.
* To be physically able to attend to all patient’s needs.
* The ability to follow procedures and guidelines.
* To be able to maintain a professional approach.
* To feel confident in passing on issues and concerns.
* Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
* Ability to demonstrate awareness/understanding of equal opportunities and other people’s behaviour, physical, social and welfare needs.

Summary terms and conditions

* Hours, days and times of work: 24 hours per week and relief waking nights (by negotiation).
* Pay rate: £13.50 per hour, £121.50 per Waking Night.
* Annual leave: The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work normally done during 5.6 weeks (statutory entitlement).
* Expenses: You will be reimbursed for prior agreed expenses incurred as part of the role.
* Sick pay: I do not operate a private sick pay scheme but provided you meet the eligibility criteria, you may be entitled to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP).
* Pension: I do not operate a private pension scheme but I will fulfil my statutory obligations via the NEST pension scheme.
* The post is subject to the following: Background check: A satisfactory Enhanced with Barred List(s) Disclosure and Barring Service check is required for this position.

* References: If successful, you will be required to provide details of two referees, one of which must be your current or most recent employer, or character references if you have not been employed.
