A Principal Highways Engineer is required to join a design consultancy in the north. You will be responsible for leading on work and projects within the highways civil engineering team, delivering infrastructure projects efficiently, cost effectively and to client standards and requirements, whilst providing support on various design and maintenance duties.

Principal Highways Engineer – RESPONSIBILITIES
10. Producing and reviewing design drawings and calculations
11. Conducting structural assessments and principal inspections / special inspections
12. Feasibility and preparing other technical reports and documents
13. Developing and presenting engineering options and solutions
14. Checking design concepts, details, drawings, specifications, contract documents and other technical documents
15. Managing and mentoring other members of the team
16. Driving effective health and safety practices within the team, and completing risk assessments in coordination with the project CDM requirements
17. Liaise with all relevant stakeholders, attending meetings, and conducting presentations of reports and progress for discussion
18. Working as part of the multi-discipline team, interacting with other design disciplines
19. Preparing technical specifications and develop Bills of Quantities
20. Attend site visits or client meetings, carry out inspections and surveys as/when required so you must have the ability to travel to site around North Yorkshire when required
Principal Highways Engineer – REQUIREMENTS
21. Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent appropriate discipline
22. Significant experience in highway design and construction.
23. Experience in major infrastructure or resource projects within consultancies.
24. Knowledge in preparing detailed designs and specifications using PDS and/or Civils 3D, AutoCAD, MicroDrainage etc
25. Able to build relationships and influence, develop and motivate both internally and externally
26. Understanding other building and engineering related disciplines OR requirements of these in the effective design, co-ordination and delivery of projects.
27. Understanding and experience of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
28. A full UK driving license
29. Ideal candidates will be working towards becoming a chartered or incorporated engineer, but this is not required.
