Role overview
The role of a data scientist in the pricing science team involves exploration and support. Data scientists or Pricing Science are key in introducing new techniques, approaches, and methods into our price modelling process. They are also responsible for maintaining the tools used by the price modelling teams. Additionally, the team contributes to the development of our tech infrastructure and collaborates with third-party partners to develop new products outside of pricing, such as risk or customer behaviour scores.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
1. Develop a strong understanding of how we price Motor and Home insurance products.
2. Identify areas for process and practice improvements.
3. Lead research and development projects to enhance the performance and efficiency of machine learning models.
4. Collaborate with the Technical Pricing Team to identify business problems and recommend solutions.
5. Work with current tools and developments primarily based on R and Python.
6. Maintain existing tools and platforms in collaboration with other data scientists.
7. Work effectively with other data scientists to achieve team goals.
Skills, Experience and Knowledge
1. Programming skills in Python or R, including relevant data science and statistics libraries.
2. Knowledge of data manipulation, machine learning, advanced analytics, and statistical techniques.
3. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to present findings clearly.
4. Ability to work effectively within a team and collaborate to produce optimal results.
5. Degree in a relevant discipline such as mathematics, computer science, computer engineering, or statistics (advantageous).
6. Experience in insurance or financial services (advantageous).
