Business Support Officer Parks & Amenities Service Unit Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Business Support Officer to join the Parks & Amenities Service Unit. Reporting to the Head of Service, you will play a key role in providing business support services across the directorate, including financial operations management, performance management, project coordination, and oversight of business information systems. Work Pattern 3 days office-based 2 days home working Benefits Competitive hourly rate of £20.38 per hour Flexible working pattern with a mix of office and home working Opportunities for professional development and career progression Supportive and inclusive working environment Opportunity to contribute to services that benefit the wider community Responsibilities As a Business Support Officer, your key responsibilities will include: Providing advice and guidance on financial matters, business information systems, performance management, projects, and business administration across the directorate Supporting the Business Support Manager with day-to-day administrative functions Coordinating customer care information and other relevant data for the Service Unit Working collaboratively with other Business Support Officers to ensure a consistent approach to service delivery Assisting with budget control activities across all functions and facilities within the Service Unit Preparing analysis, reports, briefing documents, and statistical information for Council Committees Supporting the preparation and monitoring of business plans and risk registers, including annual objectives and performance indicators Leading the preparation of business cases and financial appraisals to support service initiatives and projects Assisting with procurement activities, including tender processes and evaluation of submissions in line with Council policies Building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders, including tenants, user groups, partnerships, government bodies, and service providers Undertaking research to identify emerging needs within the Service Unit Ensuring compliance with Council policies and procedures while maintaining high standards of professional conduct Promoting high standards of customer care and supporting the positive reputation of the Council Supporting equality of opportunity and access in service delivery Qualifications and Skills To be successful in this role, you should demonstrate: Experience in business support, financial operations, or performance management Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to prepare detailed reports and business cases Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders Proficiency in Microsoft Office and business information systems Knowledge of procurement policies and procedures (desirable) Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changing organisational priorities Commitment to delivering high standards of customer care and promoting equality Typical Duties Your day-to-day work may include: Liaising with colleagues and stakeholders to support business operations Preparing financial reports, performance information, and briefing documents Supporting procurement processes and monitoring budgets Conducting research and providing insights to inform decision-making Maintaining customer care information and ensuring compliance with Council policies Supporting the development and monitoring of business plans and risk registers If you are a proactive and organised professional with strong analytical and administrative skills, we encourage you to apply for this opportunity.
