The successful person will serve as a critical enabler for Mission 3 of the Government Property Strategy (GPS): Professional Excellence and Insight. You will play a vital role in the professionalisation of a 7,000-strong workforce, ensuring the multi-billion-pound public estate is managed with the commercial rigour necessary for national renewal. By embedding property expertise across government, you will ensure the professional capacity exists to build modern hospitals, maintain safe schools, and unlock land for housing. This is a business-critical, high-impact role with the autonomy to deliver programmes that directly support the GPS ambition of a smaller, better, greener, and more professionalised estate. You will contribute directly by leading programmes to build leadership capability within our most senior people, enrich green skills across the profession through managing our sustainability offer and champion data-driven insight. You’ll gain fantastic exposure to senior Property and HR stakeholders across government, providing not only a platform to influence a culture of excellence but a springboard for your own development and future career progression. 1. Lead the Government Property Leadership Programme and Senior Talent Pipeline by: Designing, delivering, and managing the Government Property Leadership Programme to secure a robust pipeline of senior talent, including at the Senior Civil Service (SCS) level. Identifying and implementing ongoing learning requirements and evaluations to ensure the programme meets evolving professional needs. 2. Drive Professional Accreditation and Sustainability (Net Zero) Initiatives by: Managing Sustainability Accreditation programmes to embed "green skills" across the function, directly supporting the mission to make Britain a clean energy superpower. Delivering specific routes to accreditation, such as Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) and Full Member ISEP cohorts, for senior property professionals. Implementing high-quality, standardised accreditation support to ensure individuals have the resources necessary to achieve professional status. 3. Champion Data-Driven Insight and Capability Evaluation through: Commissioning and leading the Government Property Capability Data Commission to provide a comprehensive analysis of workforce capacity. Tracking and evaluating progress towards the GPS 90% accreditation target by 2030. Delivering data-driven presentations and insights to a wide range of stakeholders to inform professionalisation strategies. Ongoing evaluation of Profession programmes, including the Property Leadership Programme 4. Supporting Wider Programme delivery by: Collaborating with the broader Profession team to ensure our workstreams remain successful, resilient and aligned with core GPS commitments.
