Job Description
Overall purpose of the job:
As a Technical Consultant in the IT Solutions team, you will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality technical solutions to new and existing customers. This involves working closely with Technical Architects to consult on designs as a subject matter expert, and progress high level designs into low-level designs. You will act as the technical lead during the build of designed solutions.
The role of Technical Consultant typically works as part of a team organised around the delivery of an IT project, normally consisting of a Technical Architect, Project Manager and other engineers involved in the delivery of the solution. You will provide subject matter expertise in your discipline and provide technical leadership to junior members of the project team. From time to time, the Technical Consultant will be required to work on their own to provide consultancy services to customers or to act as an advisor into other in-flight projects as required.
Key responsibilities for this job:
* Early involvement in IT delivery projects for the creation of Low-level Designs (LLDs)
* Technical lead during the execution phase of IT projects
* Liaising with customers to derive detailed requirements and system configurations
* Working closely with Project Managers and Technical Architects to ensure the successful delivery of solution, on time and to a consistent quality.
* Provide subject matter expertise in one or more technical discipline – for example, Server, Storage, Networking, End User or Cloud.
* Working on customer sites or datacentres during the delivery of IT projects
* Ensuring IT solutions are accepted into support through provision of knowledge transfer sessions, documentation, and post-implementation support.
* Pioneer the development of repeatable design patterns (blueprints) and scripted installs.
Knowledge and experience required:
* Highly professional approach and good presentation skills.
* Experience of working with demanding customers.
* Excellent communication skills interfacing at all levels up to Director both internal and external.
* Leading technical design teams and liaising with various staff both technical and cross-departmental.
* Self-motivated, results-oriented with a positive outlook.
* Ability to work well undirected, using own initiative with self confidence in decision making
* A clear focus on high quality work and excellent customer service
* Ability to maintain favourable working relationships with all company employees to foster and promote a co-operative and harmonious working culture.
* Comfortable working as part of a wider project delivery team or on their own

* F5 / Kemp Load Balancers and WAFs
* Data diodes
* Monitoring Tools, such as SolarWinds and PRTG
* WAN circuits – Internet, MPLS, ADSL, FTTC, Leased line, ExpressRoute, Direct Connect
* VOIP solutions
* Cisco ISE / SSM / FTD
Desirable Skills:
* Detailed knowledge of Dell hardware, network, and storage solutions
* Strong networking implementation & troubleshooting skills
Ideal Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
* MCSA / MCSE
* CCNA / CCNP
* VCP
* Vendor hardware specific e.g. Dell, HP
* ITIL Foundation
