This post is an excellent opportunity for Early Learning and Childcare professionals to work within a managerial role. We are looking for candidates that are either:
Qualified to SCQF Level 9 in a relevant subject which also meets the SSSC Manager' registration requirements.
or
Qualified to SCQF Level 8 in a relevant subject which also meets the SSSC Practitioner' registration requirements. This would be a trainee opportunity.
A trainee position provides an excellent career development opportunity for Early Learning and Childcare professionals to progress within a managerial role. Candidates will be required to demonstrate a commitment to completing a SCQF Level 9 Qualification to meet the SSSC and Care Inspectorate Manager' registration requirements. This qualification will be fully funded by the Council, and the successful candidates will be fully supported by the Council to obtain the necessary skills, abilities and knowledge to become fully competent in the role.

Sandwick Junior High School is a non-denominational school in Sandwick which is located in the South Mainland of Shetland. It provides an all year round early years provision as well as an out of school care provision for Primary aged pupils. The primary school serves the community of Sandwick and surrounding areas. The Secondary department has classes from S1 to S4 and caters for pupils from The South Mainland schools. The feeder primaries are Sandwick, Cunningsburgh and Dunrossness. The school roll is currently around 200 pupils. The school is managed by a Head Teacher, two Depute Head Teachers, a Principal Teacher for Pupil Support, a Principal Teacher for Additional Support Needs and a Manager of Early Learning and Childcare and Out of School Club.
The school has extensive school grounds and these provide wonderful opportunities for outside play and learning. We have active Pupil Councils in the Primary and Secondary departments. We are also very fortunate to have a very supportive, active and engaged Parent and Carer Council.

* Salary shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £2,859 per annum
* Permanent Full Time post for 37.0 Hours per Week, 52.18 weeks per year
* This is for professionals who are qualified to SCQF Level 9 in a relevant subject or a trainee career development opportunity and is not career graded
* Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update prior to a formal offer of employment being made
* The successful candidate will have to complete registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) when they begin in post
* A relocation package does not apply to this post
