This role will initially begin on a supply basis through Milk Education, allowing both the candidate and school to ensure the role is the right fit. However, the school is looking for someone long-term and intends to quickly move the successful candidate onto a permanent contract directly with the school following a successful initial period.

The Role

As a School Caretaker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the school site is safe, secure, clean, and well-maintained for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Opening and locking the school premises daily
2. Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs
3. Ensuring the school grounds are clean, tidy, and safe
4. Conducting health & safety checks around the site
5. Assisting with deliveries, furniture moving, and room setups
6. Monitoring heating, lighting, and alarm systems
7. Liaising with contractors and reporting maintenance issues
8. Supporting the school during events and emergencies where required
9. Maintaining high standards of site security and cleanliness at all times

The Ideal Candidate Will:

10. Have previous caretaking, maintenance, facilities, or site management experience
11. Be practical, organised, and able to work independently
12. Have good knowledge of health & safety procedures
13. Be dependable, trustworthy, and proactive
14. Be comfortable working in a school environment
15. Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service (or be willing to obtain one)
