Job Title: Electrical Engineer
Purpose of the Job
My client is a global leader in facilities management, seeking an electrical engineer to support the Data Centre Management Team in delivering a customer-focused, cost-effective, and efficient service.
This role involves carrying out planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs to building infrastructure, plant, and equipment, in accordance with service levels, and responding to and escalating site engineering emergencies. The engineer will also undertake small installation works, project tasks, repairs to building fabric, and handyman duties to meet contractual and legal obligations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Ensure routine maintenance of all building plant, equipment, and systems to meet and exceed expectations and service level agreements.
2. Perform fault diagnosis on mechanical and electrical equipment.
3. Respond to Building Management System alarms, escalate issues, and carry out emergency repairs as needed.
4. Manage controls within the Permit to Work systems appropriately.
5. Follow applicable ACOPs related to maintenance activities.
6. Ensure availability of suitable spares for maintenance tasks.
7. Prepare Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all tasks to ensure safe working practices.
8. Supervise engineering subcontractors, ensuring compliance with contractual commitments and site procedures.
9. Develop good working relationships with staff and clients.
10. Maintain a safe and healthy working environment, complying with all company and client policies and procedures.
11. Keep professional and technical skills up to date through continuous learning.
12. Accurately update logbooks, shift handovers, and client reports.
13. Identify and report potential hazards.
Person Specification
1. Electrical qualifications from a recognized institution (NVQ / C&G).
2. Experience in critical environment facilities maintenance (desirable but not essential).
3. Comprehensive mechanical and electrical engineering experience, including reactive and preventative maintenance.
4. Good computer skills.
5. Team player.
