Working hours: Monday - Friday 7:30am - 5pm and alternating Saturdays 7am to 12pm
As a Branch Assistant, you’ll play a key role in keeping our hire equipment safe, reliable, and ready for use, while ensuring it’s delivered and collected efficiently for our customers. This is a hands on, role where no two days are the same. You’ll split your time between maintaining and servicing equipment in the branch and being out on the road, helping us deliver an exceptional customer experience every time.
What does the Branch Assistant role involve?
In the shop:
* Service, repair and test a range of hire equipment to ensure it’s safe, reliable, and ready for customers.
* Report any defects or safety issues to maintain high health and safety standards.
* Keep accurate service records and update internal systems promptly.
* Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant environment.
* Liaise with the Branch Manager regarding spare parts, repairs, and maintenance needs.
* Support across the department to help maximise branch productivity.
On the road:
* Deliver and collect equipment safely and professionally, ensuring every customer interaction reflects our company values.
* Carry out daily and weekly vehicle checks, reporting any defects and keeping the vehicle clean and well presented.
* Use company technology (smartphones, route planning tools, etc.) to manage schedules and record deliveries.
* Load, unload and secure equipment safely using the training and tools provided.
* Communicate clearly with customers about delivery times, equipment use or collection arrangements.
* Act as a brand ambassador, representing the company with professionalism at all times.
* Support additional branch tasks when required
What do you need to succeed?
* A valid UK driving licence (required).
* A positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
* Previous experience with mechanical or electrical equipment (advantageous but not essential as full training will be provided).
* Excellent customer service and communication skills.
* Good time management, organisational and numerical skills.
* Comfortable using technology such as smartphones and apps.
* A strong focus on safety, accuracy, and attention to detail.
* The ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
* A flexible, proactive approach to changing priorities.
