Job overview

Full Time: 37.5 hours

Permanent Post

To work as a member of the Sterile Services Team providing highly specialised surgical instrument reprocessing to all areas across the Trust, Community and external clients in line with ISO13485 standards and QMS instructions.

Main duties of the job

* Participate in a duty rota including weekday evening shifts, weekends, bank holidays and on call commitments.
* Communicate all relevant information within the team to ensure the continued and efficient running of the service.
* Liaise between decontamination personnel, customers and other healthcare staff politely and helpfully.
* Demonstrate competency and understanding of sterilisation and disinfection procedures.
* Report any untoward accident / incident or any faulty equipment to the supervisor and document the procedure according to departmental and Trust policies.
* Support new development or tasks required as deemed necessary by management.

Person specification


Qualifications

* Good literacy and numeracy skills essential.
* National Decontamination Training Programme or equivalent.
* Quality system auditing experience would be valuable.


Knowledge & Experience

* Previous experience working in Sterile Services Department or medical device decontamination manufacturing or production environment.
* Experience working within a peri‑operative care setting or healthcare related clinical environment would be a considerable advantage such as Theatres.

Other

* Working in uncomfortable conditions exposure to blood, bone and body tissue.
* Ability to stand for long periods.
* Ability to move loads up to 12 kilograms.
* Paying attention to detail and concentrate on repetitive movements.
* Must be flexible to work hours required and work weekends, bank holidays and on‑call rota.
