There’s nothing quite like seeing a child go from “I can’t do this” to “wait… I can actually do this”.
We’re working with a supportive primary school in BS3 that’s looking for an Intervention Teaching Assistant to focus on literacy across KS2. This is a role where you’ll work closely with pupils who need a little extra help with reading and writing, giving them the confidence boost they’ve been missing.
It’s targeted, purposeful support, and you’ll see the impact of your work every single week.
What your day will involve:
You’ll be running small group sessions focused on reading, writing, and comprehension. These pupils are capable, they just need things broken down a little differently, with more time, encouragement, and consistency.
You’ll work alongside teachers to identify areas of need, track progress, and adjust your approach as pupils develop. You’ll celebrate the small wins, whether that’s finishing a paragraph, reading with confidence, or finally understanding something that’s been tricky.
You’ll also support within the classroom when needed, helping maintain consistency between intervention sessions and whole-class learning.
The ideal candidate:
You’re confident supporting literacy and enjoy working in small groups where you can really focus on progress. You’re patient, encouraging, and great at explaining things in a simple, clear way.
You might have classroom experience already, or you may have supported learning in another setting. Either way, you care about helping children build confidence, not just complete tasks.
You notice when a child is struggling quietly, and you step in with the right support at the right time.
