Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions is seeking a Software Engineer -Checkout Environment for Consumer-Service- contractor. The TGCS Professional Services Software Engineer designs, builds, and supports custom software solutions for some of the world’s largest retailers. The Software Developer will support activities with customers, external and internal industry groups. The candidate needs programming and analytical skills, problem determination and debugging, attention to detail, teamwork and excellent communication skills. The Developer will also need to communicate at different technical levels, from the application architects to the end user. Our developers are involved in the entire project lifecycle. They interact directly with our retail customers to understand and document requirements, they collaborate with the implementation and test teams on design and development, and they oversee delivery and provide ongoing support for their work. Responsibilities: • Developing new custom functionality and assisting with defect support • Authoring functional specifications and/or high-level designs • Documenting solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams• Working closely with the QA team to ensure quality deliverable • Creating product documentation for end-users • Providing ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms • Providing technical guidance during requirements for workshops with our customers • Contributing to our legacy of outstanding innovation through the invention/IP process • Analyze traces/customer logs to identify product configuration problems. • Attempt the recreation of customer issues on his/her local environments (virtual or physical). • Share feature requests and effective workarounds with customers and team members. • Keep customers informed about issues being worked/analyzed, providing frequent, and meaningful updates. Required Skills : • Bachelor’s degree in computer science/computer engineering or equivalent experience. • 7 years of experience working in software development and/or support, with strong knowledge of software development life cycle processes. •Solid ability to effectively prioritize work, juggling daily support responsibilities, responsiveness to customer. •Solid ability to work with customers or customer representatives and Product Management to understand defects business impacts and translate them into efficient response to customers •4 years of experience in Object Oriented Analysis and Design Patterns Based Implementation •4 years of experience with Java •3 years of experience with Scripting Languages •Client facing professionalism and skills, Written and Verbal Communication Preferred Skills: • Familiarity with C++, JavaScript, ANT, JSON, XML, HTML5, RESTful API, JUnit • Experience with retail POS applications and devices About the Company: Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions is a dynamic billion dollar global company based in Research Triangle Park, NC, providing retail store solutions to your favorite brands.
