Assistant Quantity Surveyor

About the Role
Construo Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-established highways and civil engineering contractor to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy commercial team supporting the financial and contractual management of multiple civils projects across the UK. The role offers strong long-term progression within a growing and supportive business.
You will be involved in day-to-day commercial administration, cost control, subcontractor management, and contract support across NEC4-based projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the commercial team with all aspects of accounts, billing, and subcontractor management
* Prepare financial information for applications, valuations, and payment notices
* Process and evaluate subcontractor applications and invoices
* Maintain and manage subcontract documentation and compliance records
* Carry out data entry, cost tracking, and financial reporting support
* Cross-check and analyse commercial data to ensure accuracy and consistency
* Liaise with internal teams including operations, commercial, and finance departments
* Communicate with subcontractors to resolve queries and elevate issues where required
* Assist in drafting commercial documentation and supporting contract administration
* Support pricing and measurement activities under guidance from senior team members
* Ensure deadlines are met across multiple live projects
Requirements
* Previous experience within a construction or civil engineering environment (preferred)
* Understanding of NEC4 contracts (essential)
* Strong analytical and numerical skills
* Highly organised with strong attention to detail
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal
* Confident using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
* Ability to work methodically and manage workload effectively
* Team player with a proactive and professional approach
