Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Autism Support)
Location: Winslow, Buckinghamshire
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time Term Time Only
Salary: £90 £120 per day (depending on experience)
A nurturing and inclusive school in Buckinghamshire is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). You will play a vital role in helping children access learning, regulate their emotions, and develop social and independence skills within a supportive school environment.
Responsibilities
* Work alongside class teachers to adapt lessons and resources for pupils with autism.
* Support pupils 1:1 and in small groups, focusing on communication, social interaction, and self-regulation.
* Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs), risk assessments, and behaviour support strategies.
* Use structured approaches such as TEACCH, PECS, and visual timetables to aid learning.
* Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, families, and external professionals to provide consistent support.
Requirements
* Experience working with children with autism, or a keen interest in developing skills in this area.
* Understanding of SEN and inclusive practices.
* NVQ in Childcare and Education or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (desirable).
* Training in Team Teach, TEACCH, PECS, or positive handling (desirable).
* Strong communication skills, patience, and a caring approach.
* Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply.
