Job Title: Personal Development Coach
Job Ref No: 1733
Weekly hours: 18.25 Hours (0.5 FTE)
Salary: Pro Rata Salary £14,257 - £15,172 per annum depending on experience. (FTE : £28,514 - £30,345)
Contract Type: Fixed Term - until July 2026 - 0.5 post.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Personal Development Coach to join our experienced team at our Longbridge Campus. This is a part-time post working 18.5 hours per week on a fixed term contract basis until July 2026. The role delivers the personal development curriculum at South and City College Birmingham through tutorial and enrichment activities within a chosen faculty.


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Delivery of Personal Development Curriculum

* Deliver engaging and impactful tutorial sessions, up to 10 hours per week, focused on personal development.
* Provide one-on-one coaching to students to help them identify goals and create actionable plans for personal and academic growth.
* Work with college staff to signpost students to the range of support services (financial, academic, social, emotional) that may affect their studies.
* Develop and implement strategies to support students in overcoming personal, social, and academic challenges and embed A-Level study skills.
* Monitor and track personal development throughout the academic year with timely feedback and interventions.
* Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and ownership of development.
* Provide absence cover within A-Level provision where necessary and support supervision of A-Level study space.
* Work with Teaching Assistants if required.

Delivery of Enrichment Activities

* Plan, deliver, and evaluate enrichment activities and events that enhance students' personal growth and life skills outside the curriculum, preparing them for HE and next steps.
* Develop programmes that support personal wellbeing, cultural awareness, leadership skills, and community engagement.
* Encourage student involvement in extracurricular activities that complement learning and enhance the college experience.
* Collaborate with colleagues and external partners to support students through UCAS applications.
* Support faculty staff and placement team with employability activities, communicating with employers to arrange talks, visits, etc.
* Support the delivery of competitions.

Administration and Reporting

* Maintain accurate records of student participation, achievements, and progress in study programmes, tutorials and enrichment sessions.
* Provide regular reports to the Head of School and Tutorial Coordinator, including feedback on student engagement and outcomes.
* Contribute to the review and development of the personal development curriculum to ensure relevance to student needs and institutional objectives.
* Ensure all personal development activities meet relevant academic and safeguarding standards.
* Support curriculum with enrolment and induction planning and delivery.
* Communicate with parents and learners regarding attendance to vocational, Maths and English, tutorial and enrichment.

General Duties

* Take part in CPD activities to prepare for delivery and professional development.
* Contribute to the College achieving its strategic aims and understand/apply College policies, procedures and practices.
* Meet professional requirements by working within a professional value base and conforming to agreed codes of professional practice and conduct.
* Comply with internal and external quality standards and contribute to the College's strategic aims.
* Comply with college policies and health and safety regulations.
* Support safeguarding and promotion of students’ welfare and maintain confidentiality in relation to all College information and data protection legislation.
* Participate in the College's appraisal scheme and undertake required training; support and participate in Equal Opportunity policies.

• Commitment to student success; A passion for supporting students to achieve personal and academic goals; experience in mentoring or youth development (desirable); experience delivering to young people in education (desirable).

• Strong communication skills; ability to engage with diverse backgrounds; experience with stakeholders (parents, guest speakers, employers); experience presenting on personal development topics (desirable).

• Coaching and mentoring skills; experience coaching/mentoring programmes; leading on coaching/mentoring programmes (desirable).

• Organisational skills; proficiency in Microsoft 365; experience with educational tracking systems (desirable).

• Creativity; ability to plan, coordinate enrichment activities; experience leading creative projects (desirable).

• Team player; experience working in a team and leading a team (desirable); knowledge of FE sector.
