This role offers responsibility for key aspects of HMRC's Digital Forensic Service. You will ensure high standards in forensic work, adhering to the Forensic Science Regulator's requirements. Leading and mentoring junior colleagues in lab work, analysis, and evidence presentation. Collaborating with investigation teams and senior management, providing forensic expertise and problem-solving. Participating in on-site operations, such as search warrants, including overnight stays and travel. The role's responsibilities include: Leading teams effectively, supporting team goals. Managing digital devices during seizures and forensic examinations. Ensuring the security and confidentiality of forensic exhibits. Following good forensic practices (ISO17025:2017, FSR Codes). Providing evidence for court proceedings. Communicating effectively with clients and colleagues. Managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Staying updated on digital forensic developments. Mentoring colleagues and educating on digital forensics. Carrying out operational duties, including search warrants and travel. Having proven experience in digital forensic team leadership. Proficiency with forensic software tools. Experience in examining digital devices and onsite acquisition. Knowledge of ISO standards and legal considerations. Handling sensitive material appropriately. Willingness to build a professional portfolio and pursue membership of relevant professional bodies. Possession of a full UK driving licence and willingness to travel. Desirable criteria include knowledge of criminal justice procedures, previous law enforcement experience, and court testimony experience. Training requirements involve digital forensics training, and successful candidates must pass occupational health assessments for safety training.
