MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER\n\nSOUTHAMPTON / HYBRID\n\nOur Mechanical Design Team is experiencing substantial growth due to new project awards and a healthy forward order book, and we are therefore now recruiting for Mechanical Design Engineers of all levels.\n\nWorking as a valued part of our professional multi-discipline design team, Mechanical Design Engineers are responsible for providing the detailed design of energy and water projects in the UK and overseas.\n\nDue to new project awards and a healthy forward order book, we are now recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer with a background in designing within the water and/or energy sectors.\n\nReporting to the Mechanical Design Manager, duties include:\n\n * Working as part of a multi-disciplined team of engineers responsible for the production design deliverables for water, wastewater and bio solids treatment plants\n\n * Responsible for assisting in all aspects of mechanical design from site surveys of existing assets, optioneering, feasibility studies, detailed design and tender pricing\n\n * Production of procurement specifications for mechanical equipment; hydraulic calculations and production of detailed design construction drawings\n\n * Project managing third party designs and providing design assistance to installation and commissioning teams. Liaising with clients and subcontractors.\n\n * Interpreting and understanding client requirements from client documents (drawings, specifications, correspondence, etc.)\n\n * Communication with client, external design resources and subcontractors to ensure compliance with specification\n\n * Liaison with Project Managers and our procurement team to ensure correct purchase of plant and equipment\n\n * Management of internal and external project specific design costs in liaison with Project Manager\n\n * Undertaking and checking design calculations including hydraulics and pumping systems\n\n * Managing the preparation of CAD drawings in accordance with the company Drawing Manual\n\n * Undertake design risk assessments to support detailed design proposals\n\n * Responsible for preparing detailed mechanical specifications\n\n * Responsible for the production of P\n\n * BEng or MEng in Mechanical Engineering or by experience\n\n * A background in producing detailed designs within the water and/or energy sectors\n\n * Chartered status would be beneficial but not essential\n\nAbout Trant;\n\nTrant Engineering Ltd has a long history of engineering and construction excellence, delivering high quality EPC engineering and construction services throughout the UK and overseas.
