Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to gain both clinical and operational leadership experience across our Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) services via a three year secondment.

We are proud to be the top performing trust in the 2022/23 National EIP audit, with all 5 early intervention teams achieving level 4 'top performing'. We provide timely access for those experiencing first episode psychosis and ensure the provision of high quality care for service-users and their families/ carers.

There is an opportunity to provide both clinical and operational leadership across the EIP services, ensuring outstanding care delivery. You will be support by senior clinical and operational colleagues and be part of the secondary care pathway.


Main duties of the job

As a senior highly specialist clinical lead with substantial senior clinical experience and post-qualification training, the post-holder will provide a high level of specialist expertise with complex and or challenging cases within the EIP Service.


The clinical lead will provide a high quality service to patients referred within the EIT Service presenting with complexity and provide clinical leadership and expert advice across the full spectrum of EIP activities across the Pennine Care footprint. The Clinical Lead will work with
managerial and clinical colleagues based within PCFT and represent PCFT nationally as required.


The post holder will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and advice and presenting recommendations to the Community Service Managers, Associate Directors and the tier 2 triumvirate on the development of the service priorities.

Education/ Qualifications


Essential criteria

* Relevant professional qualification, e.g., RMN, Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapy or Social Work, with masters in a relevant subject or equivalent
* Post graduate qualification in relevant clinical area
* Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.


Desirable criteria

* Quality Improvement training


Knowledge


Essential criteria

* In-depth knowledge of the national policy and best practice with regards to Early Intervention in Psychosis and NICE guidelines for schizophrenia
* Understanding of the broader framework of the NHS reform alongside current policies in relation to health and social care
* Experience of communicating effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.


Desirable criteria

* Understanding of social and political environment including the GM devolution agenda.
* Knowledge of Quality Improvement techniques and methodology

Essential criteria

* Significant post qualification experience of working clinically in a mental health assessing, containing and managing complex cases in a multi-disciplinary setting. (Ideally Early Intervention Services)
* Managing, training and mentoring staff
* Practical experience in facilitating change
* Experience of active involvement in local, regional groups.
* Experience of undertaking clinical audit
* Experience of working with complex cases
* Experience working with a wide range of stakeholders
* Experience of dealing with Safeguarding Incidents.
* Experience of developing and delivering training and/or groups
* Experience of taking a proactive role in service development.
* Experience of leading on and reporting on serious untoward incidents
* Experience of managing complaints.

* Scientific publications, presentation of papers at conferences
* Experience in leading staff who you do not have direct management responsibility
* Experience of professional leadership
* Experience of undertaking or being involved in research

Work related circumstances


Essential criteria

* Use of a car or access to a means of mobility to travel across the Trust footprint in line with service needs
