CNC Machinist - Miller Location: Coventry Salary: £15.29 per hour (increasing to £15.79 after 3 months) Working Hours: Monday to Friday, with a choice of two shifts: * Shift A: 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. * Shift B: 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Job Summary The CNC Machinist (Miller) is responsible for setting and operating CNC machine centres to produce precision-machined components. The successful candidate will ensure that all manufactured parts comply with engineering drawings, approved documentation, and strict quality standards. Key Responsibilities * Machine Operation and Setup: Set up and operate CNC Milling Machine Centres, using Fanuc and G-Code controls, to produce precision components. * Programming: Generate and amend CNC machine programmes as needed to achieve the best output. * Reading and Interpretation: Accurately read and interpret engineering drawings to understand specifications, tolerancing, and manufacturing requirements. * Inspection and Quality Control: * Use various inspection equipment, such as micrometres, Verniers, and standard gauges (including Rok-it, plug, and gap gauges), to check parts. * Take responsibility for your own in-process and final inspection, ensuring all products meet the required quality standards. * Tooling Management: * Identify and obtain the necessary tooling, fixtures, and machine programme requirements in advance to reduce machine downtime. * Maintain rough and finish milling, drilling, tapping, reaming, and finish bore tooling. * Mentorship and Support: Assist or instruct other operators with machine setups, tooling, and cutting details to maximise programme efficiency. * Maintenance: Carry out routine maintenance tasks, including lubrication, cutting fluid checks, and machine cleaning, at the required frequencies. * Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks and other issues that may affect the quality and deadlines of machined components. * Health and Safety: Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and procedures within the work area. Candidate Requirements * Proven experience as a CNC Miller, with strong skills in setting and operating CNC milling machines. * Proficiency with Fanuc and G-Code controls is essential. * Excellent ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings. * Experience using inspection equipment such as micrometres, Verniers, and gauges. * A meticulous and methodical approach to work, with high attention to detail. * Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently when required. * A proactive attitude towards problem-solving and process improvement.
