Graduate Learning Support Assistant – Secondary Schools (Newcastle & North Tyneside)

Pay: £93–£115 per day (depending on experience)
Start date: ASAP
Location: Secondary schools across Newcastle, North Tyneside & Northumberland
Contract: Full-time, term-time only

About the Role

Are you a recent graduate looking to begin your career in education? Protocol Education is recruiting Graduate Learning Support Assistants to work in our partner secondary schools across Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland.

This is an exciting opportunity for graduates in Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Education, English, Maths, or Science to gain valuable classroom experience, support young people, and take your first step towards a career in teaching, educational psychology or specialist SEND support.

What You’ll Be Doing

1. Supporting pupils in class, in small groups and 1:1, helping them to overcome barriers to learning

2. Assisting teachers with lesson delivery, classroom management and behaviour support

3. Providing encouragement, guidance and academic support across a range of subjects

4. Supporting students with additional needs (SEND/SEMH) and adapting resources where required

5. Building positive relationships with staff, pupils and parents to create an inclusive learning environment

What We’re Looking For

6. A degree in Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Education, English, Maths, Science or a related subject

7. A genuine passion for supporting young people in education

8. Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with secondary-aged students

9. Resilience, adaptability, and a proactive approach to classroom support

10. A valid DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one (you can do so through us)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
