Overview
Are you a recent Psychology graduate eager to make a difference in young people's lives? Are you interested in gaining meaningful, school-based experience before progressing into a career in educational psychology, therapy, or teaching?
We’re currently recruiting full-time SEN Support Assistants to work within a specialist SEN school in the WF7 area, supporting pupils in Key Stage 2 and 3 (ages 7–14). This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate looking to explore the world of special educational needs and behaviour support in a real-world setting.
Please note: This role is best suited to candidates living in or near Pontefract for easy access, especially if travelling via public transport. If you're further afield, a full UK driving licence is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with autism, ADHD, and SEMH needs
Help implement behaviour and emotional regulation strategies tailored to individual pupils
Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure inclusive and accessible learning
Foster a nurturing and positive classroom environment
Apply your academic knowledge to help children overcome social and learning barriers
What We’re Looking For
A degree in Psychology (or related field such as Sociology, Criminology, or Education)
Passionate about supporting children with additional and complex needs
Patient, understanding, and emotionally resilient
Previous experience in youth work, care, or school settings is a plus but not essential
Available to work Monday to Friday during term-time
