About us
The Specialist Transport Service is responsible for delivering transport services to approximately 1500 passengers daily amounting to over half a million passenger trips each year.
As a result of this service, our customers are able to access and take part in a wide range of services and activities:
1. Social care transport for adults with learning difficulties and older people to day care and/or learning opportunities.
2. Education and learning transport for Home to School for children and young people with special educational needs.
The role
The job involves providing a high level of service to the residents of Warrington who require transportation to schools and day care centres. This can involve handling wheelchairs with loading them on and off the vehicle and dealing with any other situation that might arise on the vehicle.
Continuity is vital part of the service we provide and we endeavour to keep the same driver/escorts on the vehicle as much as reasonable practicable. In summary the role involves the following tasks:
3. Undertake all driver/escort duties in allocated vehicles as instructed by the Passenger Fleet Supervisor.
4. Pick up service users and transport them to their point of destination using the vehicle in a safe manner at all times.
5. Take all reasonable steps to prevent services users causing harm to themselves and/or others.
6. Complete all paperwork as requested.
The position being recruited to is on a split shift basis and there will be a need for successful candidates to work in the morning and/or afternoon with a break in between. The service operates two teams, split across the week with Start (Mon AM&PM, Tue AM&PM and Wed AM) and End (Wed PM, Thur AM&PM and Fri AM&PM) shift patterns.
What's needed?
Professionalism and good work ethic are essential to our service as this projects a good image to the residents of Warrington out on our roads. We expect our driver/escorts to:
7. Respect all service users and them with sensitivity at all times
8. Be flexible in working hours over a standard working day
9. Full clean driving licence with category D-D1
