Job summary
The Trust is seeking to appoint a full-time (10 PA) acute On-Call Consultant Paediatrician with an interest/expertise in Cardiology.
The Consultant will work with the Clinical Director in Paediatrics and other Consultants to promote high standards in Paediatric medical care. Responsibilities include:
1. Developing the service and promoting multi-disciplinary and multi-agency collaboration for children's care.
2. Encouraging a team approach, linking acute, community, social, education, and voluntary services.
3. Participating in Consultant appraisal and revalidation.
4. Obtaining prior agreement for any Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs) outside the Trust from the Clinical Director.
5. Serving as the lead Local Paediatric Consultant for Cardiology, with support from tertiary centre GOSH.
6. Participating in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, including student placements from Southampton and Physicians Associates from the University of Surrey.
Candidates must be fully registered with the GMC, hold a license to practice, and be on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of attaining CCT at interview.
Main duties involve a mix of outpatient and inpatient activities, with outpatient work tailored to the applicant's special interest. Flexibility for part-time or job-share arrangements will be considered.
