Design Manager - Main Contractor (Elgin)
Contract Scotland is representing a leading main contractor in the search for an experienced Design Manager to join their team in Elgin.
This is a key role overseeing the full design process across major construction projects, ensuring technical excellence, compliance, and seamless coordination from pre-construction through to delivery.
About the Role
* Oversee and manage the full contractor design process throughout the project lifecycle
* Ensure strict adherence to all design and build procedures, with Health & Safety and quality as core priorities
* Maintain alignment with the design and delivery programme at all times
* Coordinate external consultants, subcontractors, and internal design teams
* Develop, manage, and finalise work packages in line with project requirements
* Ensure all design elements meet project specifications, drawings, and quality expectations
* Manage design information flow across subcontractor packages
* Chair design coordination meetings and subcontractor design meetings as required
* Take responsibility for contract administration relating to contractor design packages
* Support monthly reporting on design progress, risk, procurement, and off-site manufacture
* Assist the commercial team with subcontract issues and any deviations from tendered scope
About You
* Degree qualified in a construction-related discipline
* Extensive experience in a Design Management role within the construction industry
* Confident decision-maker with a calm, adaptable approach to challenges
* Strong communicator with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders
