Overview
The Environment Agency manages over 3,800 assets on the Yorkshire river network, covering 2,157 km and protecting around 320,000 properties. We are looking for a Chartered Engineer to provide specialist advice and guidance for the asset management of statutory reservoirs, flood embankments, defence walls and other large civil structures.
Responsibilities
* Provide independent supervision for critical assets and reservoirs.
* Lead teams on engineering issues and oversee the technical assurance of our asset investment programme.
* Advise on technical decisions for asset refurbishment and asset management plans.
* Respond to incidents, undertake incident roles and provide business continuity support during incidents.
* Mentor and coach less experienced department members to develop the next generation of engineers.
Required Qualifications and Experience
* Engineering qualification with Chartered Civil/Structural Engineer status.
* Good communication skills and customer focus.
* Health, Safety & Environmental knowledge and experience.
* Technical leadership experience.
* Full UK driving licence.
Desirable (but not essential)
* Flood risk management knowledge.
* Reservoir construction or management experience.
* Practical experience in managing assets.
* Contract management experience within the construction sector.
Conditions & Benefits
Salary: £54,940 plus a Market Forces Factor allowance of £6,000 for CEng status. Hybrid working with some days required in York or Leeds offices; site visits across Yorkshire. Full driving licence essential.
