About the role

This position supports a Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) research fellowship under Dr Yuri Kawaguchi. Primary responsibilities include conducting eye‑tracking studies in rhesus macaques at the MRC Centre for Macaques (CFM), training animals, designing experiments, and collecting data. The role also provides research support for other pilot projects.


Responsibilities

* Conduct eye‑tracking studies in macaques, including animal training, experimental design, and data collection.
* Investigate primate perception and response to infants, combining cognitive testing with behavioural data.
* Analyse findings to develop non‑invasive tools for predicting infant–adult interactions and inform breeding management and welfare.
* Support small or pilot projects requiring research assistance.


Qualifications

* Experience working with captive animals, preferably in experimental, cognitive or behavioural research.
* Familiarity with quantitative observational methods.
* Ability to travel to Nottingham for team meetings (travel costs provided).


Eligibility and security clearance

Subject to successful candidate meeting required level of security clearance; eligibility depends on individual circumstances and vetting outcomes.
