This is a full-time, permanent role with real variety and impact The Materials Management team provide a Materials Management service to selected areas within the UEL managed service areas. This role will be key in ensuring the right consumables are the right place, at the right time, to ensure that the clinical services are able to treat patients efficiently and effectively, with support from a dedicated management team within UEL. The service supports the operating theatres, operating labs and several other areas of a 24/7 acute teaching hospital (University Hospital Southampton). UHS provides major trauma and countless tertiary services across the South of England. This post will ensure that the correct consumables and implants are available at the right place, at the right time. Detailed job description and main responsibilities The post holder will be part of a team responsible for ensuring that goods and materials are well-managed, well-maintained and in the right place at the right time. We’re looking for someone with good communication skills, both within the team and with clinical users (UEL customers). The successful candidate will need a keen eye for detail, as well as some experience in utilising complex IT and data platforms that are used in the hospital acute care sector. The team will liaise with third-party suppliers and Wessex NHS Procurement Limited to ensure that products are available. They will assist and guide team members, helping with product familiarisation and store organisation, ultimately contributing to clinical efficiency and excellent patient care and experience. Alongside this, we are looking for a conscientious, hard-working team player to join our team at UEL. Good IT skills and good communication skills will be essential, as well as the ability to organise your workload in a logical way. You will need to be reliable, be able to work under pressure and be able to motivate yourself and others. The ability to prioritise tasks and escalate where there are risks to services is also important.
