Job title: Applications Technologist Reporting to: Senior Applications Manager Location: Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk (Hybrid working opportunities available) Hours: 40 hours per week The Opportunity As an Applications Technologist, your role within the organisation is to support all functions of the wider Applications Team in meeting business led or customer driver initiatives. You will support the Sensory, Applications and the Product Development Scientists to provide our customers with solutions which offer a direct benefit to them and gain new business as a result. You will act as a support network for the commercial team as well as aiding the development and validation of Treatt products. You will be someone who keeps up to date with the latest technologies, research and trends and is always willing to share your knowledge and experience with colleagues. You will be a self-starter with a strong initiative and possess good organisation skills to manage a busy workload. The people and the culture create a fantastic company to be part of" - Rebecca, Customer Care Team Leader What you'll be doing The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to: Provide support for all beverage requests Accurately compound beverage formulas, and create complex applications Accurately compound ingredient formulations Assist in the evaluation of flavours in application for briefs, research projects and portfolio evaluation Work with the sensory team to conduct and support sensory testing Participate in taste panels and project evaluations as required Work collaboratively with global applications counterparts Build awareness of UK/EU flavour and beverage regulations and put this into practice within your day to day work Use market trends to feed into projects and departmental initiatives. Carry out a suite of analytical techniques to analyse prototype samples Assist in analytical assessment of our product portfolio incl. GC, GC-MS, Headspace Analysis Follow change control procedures for setting up new and/or existing items Sample a range of ingredients from stock following health & safety procedures Ensure that the working area in the laboratory is maintained in a clean and orderly condition and that any hazard or potential hazard is reported. Maintain inventory of laboratory consumables and ingredients Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the department Work continuously to maximise potential revenue and contribution Carryout safety checks on a rotational basis to ensure all working areas are maintained to a high level. Write and review COSHH, Risk assessments and Standard Operating Procedures. Graduate Degree (BSc.) ideally in a food related degree or science Desirable to have experience working as an Lab Technologist or similar role Experience of handling a range of ingredients used within the F&F and FMCG industry. Knowledge of all Treatt product categories and the portfolios in each of these categories. Experience of conducting COSHH assessments and Risk Assessments.
