Offer description

SEND EHCNA Co-ordinator Grade 4 - £34,434 - £41,711 Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review Permanent Full-time, 36.5 hours per week (hybrid working) Do you want to make a difference for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their families? Birmingham’s SEND services have been growing as part of the council’s long-term commitment to children, young people and their families and our improvements have recently been recognised by Ofsted. We’re looking for motivated people to join our teams and make a meaningful impact in this priority area. This role within the Assessment and Review Service delivers the statutory processes related to Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments and you will be the named officer for a number of children and young people. Using your knowledge of SEND, you will ensure that information provided by parents, carers, children, young people and the professionals that work with them lead to informed decisions about whether to proceed with an assessment and subsequently whether to issue an EHC plan. With your experience of understanding professional advice and report writing, you will make sure that EHC plans accurately reflect the needs of our children and young people, and the special education provision that will support them to achieve their ambitions and goals. Using your skills in communication and your person-centred approach to casework, you will ensure the focus is always on the child and young person and everyone understands the processes and the decisions made. You will be experienced in adhering to statutory and locally derived timescales and procedures. We will match your commitment to us with opportunities to grow and develop your knowledge and experience in SEND as well as other rewarding career progression routes. We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and aim to have a workforce that represents the communities we serve. To be part of this dynamic team and to play your part in our continued journey to delivering improved outcomes for Birmingham’s children, young people and their families, please consider whether your skills and experience can further strengthen the service. If you'd like to find out more about this role, please contact Resourcing@birmingham.gov.uk Please upload an up-to-date CV and Personal Statement via the attachments part of your application. The Personal Statement should outline how you meet the essential criteria for the role through your personal qualities, skills and experience and include your motivation for applying to the post. Note the Personal Statement should be no more than 1500 words. Unfortunately, we cannot consider any applications without a CV and Personal Statement attached. Birmingham City Council is an accredited Disability Confident Leader employer, and we are committed to employing, retaining and developing all of our people. We want to ensure your recruitment journey with us is a positive and equitable one, so please let us know if there are any reasonable adjustments, additional support, accessibility needs, or if there is any way in which we can support you through your application. We welcome applications from people with caring responsibilities and flexible working options will be considered. A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be undertaken. Proof of Right to work in the UK will be required for all applicants in accordance with UK Home Office requirements, before any employment offer can be confirmed.
