Full time, permanent opportunity

We are looking for a meticulous Assistant to supporting our Head of Costing specialising in Legal Aid Agency work across our Criminal and Family Care departments. To be successful, you will need a minimum of 6 months administration experience of Legal Aid within a Criminal or Family department.

As an Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring the compliance with the Legal Aid Agency Contracts including timely and accurate billing.

What the job involves;

* Assist with the management of the Costing Department and liaise with the Head of Departments, ensuring all LAA regulations are communicated to the Costing and Family Departments.
* Complete regular ledger reviews with lawyers to ensure archiving and billing procedures are up to date as well as submitting all claims to the Legal Aid Agency.
* Support with any action points or questions from the Legal Aid Contract Manager, preparing for yearly Legal Aid Audits and the preparation and submission of all Legal Aid Tenders.
* Ensure compliance with Legal Aid Agency Regulations, SRA, Lexcel, Law Society Quality Scheme standards, SARs and accounting requirements.

What you need:

* To ideally have at least 6 months experience in a public law department, with knowledge of legal aid within in an administration function.
* Strong attention to detail, high level of accuracy with numbers and calculations and effective interpersonal skills, sensitivity, tact and diplomacy.
* Excellent administrative, planning, organisation and time management as well as being proficient in a variety of IT software, including all MS Office applications.
* UK driving licence & access to vehicle for community and business use, local and commutable to the Company's offices across the region.
