Finance Manager

We’re supporting a well-established, purpose-driven charity based in Surrey that is looking to appoint a Finance Manager to lead its finance function and support the organisation through its next phase of development.
This is a broad and hands-on role within a small organisation, offering the opportunity to take ownership of management accounts, financial planning, and compliance, while also playing a key role in supporting senior leadership and the Board of Trustees.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring robust financial management, improving processes, and providing clear financial insight to support decision-making and long-term sustainability. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys operating both strategically and operationally within a close-knit, values-led environment.
The Role
Reporting to the CEO and working closely with senior leadership and Trustees, you will oversee the finance function and ensure the organisation maintains strong financial governance and reporting standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and deliver monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and clear commentary
* Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with department leads and senior stakeholders
* Develop and maintain rolling cash flow forecasts and support long-term financial planning
* Ensure all balance sheet accounts are fully reconciled and financial data is accurate and reliable
* Oversee day-to-day finance operations, including transactional processes and financial controls
* Manage and submit VAT returns, ensuring compliance within a charity environment
* Provide financial insight and business partnering support to senior leadership and the Board of Trustees
* Support the preparation of year-end accounts and act as a key contact for external auditors
* Review and strengthen financial processes, controls, and reporting frameworks
What We’re Looking For
* Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACCA / CIMA / ACA) or strong QBE
* Experience within a charity or not-for-profit organisation required
* Strong background in management accounting, budgeting, and forecasting
* Experience producing cash flow forecasts and financial analysis
* Understanding of VAT within a charity or mixed-income environment
* Confident working with senior stakeholders, including Trustees
* Strong Excel and financial systems experience
* High attention to detail with strong organisational and communication skills
